It seems my entry on 4×4 vehicle – a Nissan Terrano II – posted last summer attracted a fair amount of interest.

If you like to know more about it – email my brother at leigh [-at-] sterry.me.uk as he did most of the work! (I had to walk the dog instead).

Anyhow… the following additions have been made…

* Quickshift gear lever
* New black 16″ by 10.5″ wheels
* 33″ MT tyres by Bronco
(I don’t recommend buying from them as they are unreliable with deliveries – promised to deliver 6 tyres within a week, then admitted none in stock but the factory has it and be ready in 3 days, then said it’s ready in a week – it took six full weeks – it would be fine if they’d said this in the first place!)
* Bull bars re-fitted (needed new mounting brackets after body lift)
* Roof racks (seems it stuck up there as it’s too high up to reach and take off!

Just one question – I thought bull bars was made illegal?

  2. Kyle said on June 19th at 10:57 am:

No – only for older bull-bars of certain types before a certain year – can’t remember the specifics, it was an EU-wide ruling.

Update on the Bronco tyres, they are cheap, but for only a bit more, Sahara tyres are MUCH more hard wearing and I will be replacing the Broncos with that in 2009 as the Broncos are wearing down VERY fast.

MTs do wear fast, but Broncos take the biscuit!

God, just what I want for mine, wish my brother would do it for me :) . Looks ace, currently looking at tyre options at the mo, possibly going for Insa Turbo Sahara 235/70/16 for the time being. But after a lift kit but aparently can’t lift with springs on front or something, anyway. Just out of interest where is the a-bar from and is your brother still making lift kits for the body?

    Cheers

Looks mint, I live in Alnwick by the way ;)

Tim – sorry for the incredibly late reply – been busy travelling in Hong Kong/Cambodia/Vietnam/UK lately.

Do email my brother, Leigh about those lift kits, he will respond. I’m not too sure about the springs bit myself – after seeing other makes, they seem to spend too much time popping the springs back in anyway!

The A-bar came with the car when I got it second hand – it’s possible that it was fitted by Custombuilt4×4 in Newcastle.

Check out 4×4 Jamboree (google it) – you can probably find one of our Terranos in action!

You might be better off trying to squeeze more power out of it… chipping, etc…

were do i get the cans to lift my terrano, they look absoloutly great.

  9. admin said on January 5th at 12:15 am:

Just get a local metal factory to cut up some 4″ aluminum blocks of the same diameter of the body mounts and have them drill a hole in the centre of each one to pass through some bolts – which you’ll have to get them custom made too.

    great stuff thanks

  11. les said on January 7th at 12:20 am:

can any tell me the diametres of the cylinders and why aluminium and not stainless, and in the spec it says 8 blocks i can see that there is 2 in the front 2 in the rear but were do the other 2 go please?

  12. Kyle said on February 1st at 10:06 am:

The other two go in the middle part – just behind the front seats.

You can for stainless – but they are heavier and still can rust if not a good quality.

The diameters – I think is 3 or 3.5 inch – basically as thick as you can get away with – if they are too small, they will produce pressure points and can bend the body where it supports.

thats brilliant great stuff thanks again,

    Hi

I have a discovery 1 and have done the body and suspension lifts and now i have got a terrano 2 and want to mod a bit for the bigger tyres,

with lifting the body 4″ do you need to mod any othe parts like steering colum gear sticks etc.

  15. denzul said on October 18th at 7:33 pm:

also i’m after roof bars so if you wanted to sell them (if you still have them) let me know

  16. Kyle said on October 18th at 7:43 pm:

Not sure on the steering – don’t think so – will ask me brother.

For gear sticks, it’s more comfortable to have them extended so they are lower down in the cab but not strictly necessary. It is quite straightfoward mod.

If you put on 33″ tyres, even with a 4″ lift, you will still need to trim the arches a bit to stop it catching on a full lock or if the wheel is going to go up into the wheel well.

As for the roof bars, we’re still keeping them :-)

    Cheers,
    Kyle

  17. denzul said on October 19th at 10:55 pm:

cheers if you could let us know about the steering that would be great

  18. Kyle said on October 19th at 11:01 pm:

Right, the steering column does need to be extended – my bro did a simple DIY job on it.

Anyhow feel free to email me bro at leigh***sterry.me.uk (replace *** with @) if you got any more questions, saves me being the middleman!
